-revisit-
There are two ways to reach the summit of Ragged Mountain. Ragged Mountain can be accessed via the Metacomet Trail, or the Ragged Mountain Preserve Trail. Both have different benefits. The Metacomet is good for an end to end hike with a car parked at two places, you can hike as far as you want on it or you can always hike out and double back. The Metacomet access is not good if you don't like to do a little bit of rock scrambling, however, as that's required to get to the top.
The Ragged Mtn Preserve Trail offers access to people who don't want to scramble, it also offers view after view on the way up. Leave extra time for your hike because there are loads of places to stop, take in the view, and take photographs. The ragged Mtn Preserve Trail offers a 6 mile Hike Via the Blue/Red Trail and the Metacomet Trail, though you can use alternate trails to shorten your hike if you're not up for the full 6 miles. Since it's a loop you only need one car, and you don't have to double back.
